The Idaho SILC Needs You Today!

The Idaho State Independent Living Council (SILC) is seeking a new member from Region 2 (Latah, Clearwater, Nez Perce, Lewis, or Idaho Counties) and Region 3 (Adams, Washington, Payette, Gem, Canyon or Owyhee Counties.)

The Idaho SILC upholds the principles of the Independent Living movement:  peer support, self-help, self-determination, equality and positive systemic change.  The Council is made up of a diverse group of volunteers with disabilities from across Idaho.  Council members may serve up to two, three-year terms.

The Council meets four times a year in Boise.  We meet for two days in January and July and for one day in April and October.  Transportation, meals and lodging expenses are paid by the Idaho SILC.  The Idaho SILC will also cover expenses for personal support during meetings if required.

Idaho SILC membership provides opportunities for growth in leadership, increased knowledge about Independent Living and disability issues, and a chance to give back to your community.  Additionally, Idaho SILC members have opportunities to attend annual state and national conferences.

If you are an adult with a disability and you live in one of the counties listed above, please consider applying to become a member of the SILC.  Simply complete and return a SILC Application Form.  Applicants are encouraged to attach a letter of reference and a resume. We understand that not everyone has a resume.  Tell us why you would like to join the Idaho SILC.

Contact our office if you have questions or need help completing the form:  (208) 334-3800 or toll-free 1-800-487-4866.
