Idaho Equal Access Collaborative Domestic Violence Project
The Idaho State Independent Living Council received a grant in September 2006, "The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women Education and Technical Assistance Grant to End Violence Against Women with Disabilities."
The grant, with a three year duration, was awarded to the SILC in partnership with Boise State University Gender Studies Program and the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.
The mission of the Idaho Equal Access Collaborative is to promote attitudinal and systemic change to achieve equal access to services for all women with disabilities who are seeking safety and protection from sexual assault and/or domestic violence through the collaborative efforts of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Disability Organizations.
The IEAC selected three pilot sites to participate in the grant. The pilot sites were located in Northern Idaho, Eastern Idaho and Southwestern Idaho. In each site a Center for Independent Living and a Domestic Violence Program participated. Each pilot site received training in Domestic Violence, the ADA, Transforming Services, Mental Health and Domestic Violence and Confidentiality Guidelines.
